Bonjour Les Amis! Cours pour Débutants - Beginner French

Students will learn French conversational skills, grammar, usage, and mechanics, while learning to solve translations and honing their pronunciation and dictionary skills. As much as possible, students will be learning French interactively and naturally, through TPR (Total Physical Response), much in the same way one learns a maternal language. We will be using music, international signs, body language, and games during class, as well as reading short current event articles, graphic novels, and/or listening to short blogs. Students will learn basic greeting vocabulary, such as common expressions and commands, calendar items, weather, numbers, and action verbs. They will learn basic prepositions, and how to give and follow directions. Students will discuss hobbies, professions, likes and dislikes, as well as how to conjugate present verb tenses.

Materials to bring:  Please bring to class a notebook and/or loose-leaf paper, writing utensils, a pocket folder, and a small French/English dictionary would be helpful (Katy will have extras on hand).
