Introduction to Birding
Bird watching not only allows us to observe the beauty of our feathered friends but, most of all, makes us fall in love with learning about and getting to know them. In this program, Scott will share recent findings and stories on bird evolution, behavior, identification, and migration patterns. We will learn to use Merlin to identify birds by their sounds and explore local species through eBird. Scott will demonstrate ways to recognize bird calls and improve your listening skills. You will be ready to start birding in the local birding hotspots this season.
Please download the eBird and Merlin apps on your phone before the class if you plan to use them. If the weather permits, we can step outside to apply what we learn immediately.
This program is suitable for anyone who wants to know more about birding. Coffee and light refreshment will be available for the talk.

Instructor
Scott Wilson grew up in Connecticut and later moved to Massachusetts to be closer to work as an ABA Therapist. Since then, he has met his lovely wife Jamie and both have gratefully welcomed their daughter Mazie into the world. They are frequently out hiking and enjoying all forms of nature as much as possible. Scott hopes that he can introduce the beauty of birds to those who have limited opportunities.
