A Royal Ball - Ages 2-6Family FunCome dressed as princes and princesses, fairies, knights - or anything magical you'd like to be! Students will learn foundational knitting skills, including how to cast on, knit and purl stitches, cast off, and read and follow a simple pattern while creating a beginner-friendly headband or colette (pictured). Once comfortable with the basics, students may choose to continue learning by making a simple scarf, hat, neck cowl/snood, or ear warmers. The instructor will provide patterns for all projects and all the materials. The students can then continue learning and create more projects in the Knitting for Adults: Basics and Beyond program. Adult, Child & Infant CPR with AED & First AidHealth & WellnessThis intensive three-hour course covers adult/child CPR and AED, adult/child/infant choking, and infant CPR. Following the course, you will be comfortable assessing a victim, checking for breathing, performing rescue breaths and chest compressions, and activating the emergency response system. You will also learn how to help someone who is choking, respond in other emergency situations, and use an AED. An American Heart Association course completion card good for two years will be emailed to participants following the course. **Optional: bring a yoga mat or towel for comfort during the hands on portion.** Upon completion of the course, you will receive a certification e-card within 2 weeks of your class date. Starting SoonBird Watching: Fall Bird MigrationNature & OutdoorsFall migration is an exciting time for birds. Billions of birds leave their summer breeding sites for their winter homes in search of food. August through October are peak fall migration months, with some starting as early as late June and others in December. Soaring birds that rely on thermals migrate during the day. Long-distance migratory birds migrate at night and get refueled during the day. Scott Wilson, an avid birder and guide, will lead walks to observe these migrating birds as they return to their winter homes. You will learn about birds' calls and habitats and use Merlin and eBird to identify and record your observations. Participants should wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes for the walk. All trails are relatively flat with the exception of the Bates Land. Please bring binoculars.
